During 2003 4 teachers received grants to pursue a thread of research. Their reports will be completed this year and their findings published on this site.

The four teachers are based around the country in Devon, the North and the Midlands. The topics that they are researching are as under.

  1. To evalute the effect of active learning strategies in developing an understanding of the importance of participating in the democratic and electoral process.
  2. How effective are ICT simulation activities in raising awareness of sustainable development in Citizenship?
  3. An investigation into the professional development needs of a team of teachers implementing Citizenship with emphasis on developing the students' skills of participation.
  4. Developing an awareness of the need for mutual respect and understanding amongst disaffected students, through involvement in an appropriate school production.
We have now received the first report - Citizenship and ICT - and you can download and print the full report by clicking here.
