Nuffield Curriculum Centre/Futurelab seminar

Our interest in e-participation and young people was sparked off by a meeting organised by the Carnegie Youth Trust with the Hansard Society in November 2002.

At the meeting we heard about several reports and initiatives including Digital Jury and the Hansard Society Programme, Logged off? (a study by Demos and Interchill) and Young TransNet.

Discussion at this meeting showed that there is much dissatisfaction with existing technologies for exchanging views available on the web, notably 'forums'. Already interesting lessons have been learnt about what can and cannot work. This is partly to do with the technology but much more to do with the way that consultation and discussion events are organised.
