Thinking together SMILE project
Nan Flowerdew at the 2004 Nuffield Primary Maths conference
Thinking together around ICT in the Primary Mathematics Curriculum is a project to improve classroom practice.
This Nuffield-Funded project is a collaboration between an Open University research team and SMILE Mathematics (Secondary Maths Independent Learning Environment) to convert research findings about the importance of talk into changes in classroom practice.
The project has developed resources to support the professional development of teachers. You can download free samples from the professional development pack from this web site.
The Northern Mathematics Council NORMAC and Western Region Mathematics Committee MATHSWEST are running in-service training events in their regions.
The Nuffield National Mathematics Committee ran events and conferences for about 30 years! They have now ceased to meet. We are all very grateful to them for their outstanding achievement.
