In the decade of the 1960s, the Nuffield Foundation spent well over £1m at 1960s prices on curriculum innovation (equivalent to about £30m today). This was the era when projects had large teams which enjoyed relatively generous timetables.
The Nuffield Science and Mathematics projects were very influential internationally. They were translated into many languages. Members of Nuffield teams continued to run teacher-training courses in other countries for many years.
The Nuffield Foundation also funded projects in other curriculum areas, most notably Classics, Languages, and Humanities.
