Last night I finally caught up with the two Teacher TV programmes about Twenty First Century Science. At the moment you can download them from the web site and view them at any time. I am not sure how long this will be possible. Each programme lasts less than 15 minutes.
The first programme shows the three courses happening in the classrooms at Haggerston School. Obviously the programme has to be about the pilot version of our Core, General and Applied courses. In this programme I felt that the treatment of the core Scientific Literacy course gave too much attention to ethical issues at the expense of other broader aims of the course.
I found the second programme more interesting because it explores the rationale for our project - and because I appear in it!. I liked the way that it raised criticisms and issues from the pilot but then gave various people including myself and Peter Campbell the chance to respond.

I think the intention is to build a permanent archive of programmes on the website, provided they are originated by Teachers' TV. Some of the output is re-runs of Channel 4 etc Schools programmes, these will not be archieved for copyright reasons. Incidentally, as an ex-Science teacher I found the first programme quite inspiring. I think it shows what the majority of pupils really want from their Science curriculum. Academic Science, the treasure owned by a graduate Science teacher, is not neccesarily a diet for all.
