PUPPETS Project
Talking science • Engaging science
The project was initially supported by the Nuffield Foundation, to establish and trial the PUPPETS approach. A major development phase is now underway run by Millgate Publishing and supported by GSK. The Nuffield Curriculum Centre is helping with advice.
The team is developing ways of using puppets in science lessons to help pupil engagement, concentration and talk.

Start where the children are
The teaching approach in the Nuffield Primary Science curriculum materials 'starts where the children are', building on the ideas children bring with them to their lessons and helping them to develop their understanding of scientific concepts.
See the SPACE approach.
The books published by Collins Educational in the 1990s are mostly out of print now but are still widely available in schools and college libraries. See books
