Chemistry Competition Results

All participants receive certificates at three levels based on the quality of their results.

Past winners and runners-up

2006
Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School, Blackburn was the winner this year.

Joint runners-up were Gorseinon College, Swansea and Withington Girls' School, Manchester.

Five centres are worthy of a mention and praise for very good results and reports. Unfortunately this time they did not qualify for a prize. They are: Badminton School, Berkhamsted Collegiate School (Camilla Gordon, Catriona Reynolds, Jessica Rider and Bruce Miller gained the highest score on the report), Lancaster Girls’ Grammar School, Malvern College and Prior Pursglove College.

2005
The prize was shared between Cheltenham Ladies College and Lady Eleanor Holles School.

Bradford Grammar School was a close runner up.

Three centres are worthy of a mention and praise for very good results and reports. They are Culford School, Gorseinon College and Methodist College Belfast.

There was an outstanding report from one group of students at Culford School and they are worthy of special congratulations, they gained 90% on the report section and obtained a Z score of less than 1. They are Richard Bosworth, Ian Fulton and Alexander Marshall.

2004
The prize was shared between Gorseinon College, Swansea and Nottingham High School.

Six centres were worthy of a mention and praise for very good results and reports. They were:
Abingdon School, Cheltenham Ladies College, Halesowen College, Hills Road VIth Form College, Salesian College and the Perse School for Girls.

2003
There were several centres that were good enough to be considered for the winning prize. However, the centre that had the best scripts and best analytical results was Gorseinon College, Swansea. Ridge Danyers, Marple, Stockport was a close second.
There were four other centres that are worthy of a mention and praise for very good results and reports. They are: Aquinas College, Stockport; Bradford Grammar School; Robert Gordon College, Aberdeen and Withington Girls’ School, Manchester.

2002
Robert Gordon School, Aberdeen was the winner this year. There were seven other centres that are worthy of a mention and praise for very good results and reports. They are:

Bradford Grammar School; King Edward VI Grammar School, Chelmsford; King James School, North Yorkshire; Kings College, Taunton; North Westminster Community School; Porth County Comprehensive School and Saint Edmunds School, Canterbury.

2001
There were several centres that were good enough to be considered for the winning prize. After much deliberation LGC Ltd chose two winners - Hills Road Sixth Form College and The Cheltenham Ladies College. The runner up was The Hulme Grammar School for Girls.

2000
Taunton School was the winner this year.

The runner up was Kings School, Macclesfield.

Two other centres get special commendation, Methodist College, Belfast and Robert Gordon's College, Aberdeen.
