Masts of the HMS TrincomaleeThere was a big turnout at Hartlepool Quay for the award of certificates to all the students who completed bursaries in the North East this summer.
There was a wide range of impressive projects. Nearly 40 were on display.

Bursary celebration in the NENazik Bandi explained how she had reformulated a product for Hart Biologicals that is already in commercial use to test the blood of patients being treated with Warfarin.
Charlotte Hobbs and Anna Loberg had carried out complementary projects involving yeast at Brewlab in a quest to develop gluten-free beer.
Alistair Crombie's project involved developing software to handle data on a back-up server at Huntsman Petrochemicals to collect critical data on the performance of a production plant. His work that has subsequently proved its worth when the ageing old server went down.
